What is a Broadband Network?

A broadband network is a rather complex item, and consists primarily of the following: multi-media, multi-point, and multi-rate. A multi-media call consists of a communication of audio, data, still images, or full-motion video, or even a combination of any of these media. A multi-point call consists of the setup of connections among that of more than two people, and these connections can either be one way or two way communications. A multi-rate network is one which allocates that of transmission capacity flexibility to connections, and has to support a broad range of bit-rates demanded by connections.

What is a Broadband Accelerator?

The primary purpose of a broadband accelerator is to sit between that of your broadband connection and your router, and most of these devices use DHCP, and consume an IP address which is generated by your router. Generally all you have to do here is leave it set to the auto-detect mode and let it run on its own without any sort of required assistance, and overall a broadband accelerator does have the same effect in reducing lag when playing over the Internet, until of course you begin to really saturate the network.

Expanding Broadband Availability

September 27th, 2006

The sad truth about today’s broadband Internet technology is that not everyone has easy access to affordable broadband. People in rural areas must often resort to expensive satellite broadband if they are going to have broadband availability. The government feels that broadband should be available to all Americans, and several agencies are taking steps to ensure that this occurs in the near future.

Broadband

Broadband is a technology that not only includes Internet access, but also voice on demand, video services, and interactive delivery of information. Broadband is a vital part of the recent revolution in communications. With broadband access, the geographic barriers that keep some people from information are eliminated and the time needed to access information is dramatically reduced with broadband availability.
